The CAA – Compagnie Agroalimentaire Africaine, is a pioneer in fonio processing, an ancient cereal promoting agricultural sustainability in Africa. With a modern facility, it optimizes fonio production to offer high-quality products, supporting food security and rural development. Committed to innovation and the community, CAA strives for a greener and more prosperous future.
Fonio is an ancient cereal primarily cultivated in West Africa, notably in Senegal, Mali, and Guinea. Considered the oldest domesticated African cereal, fonio is highly valued for its ability to thrive in poor and arid soils where other cereals like maize or rice would struggle to grow. This resilient plant matures very quickly, in just six to eight weeks, making it a crucial food resource during lean periods. Fonio is also prized for its nutritional qualities, being rich in essential amino acids that are lacking in most other grains
CAA has developed the first fully automated processing line for dehusking, cleaning, washing, parboiling, and drying fonio.
The 500g precooked fonio is available and marketed in Senegal at the sales points listed on the Findi page of our website: https://caa.sn/findi/
